IMG_8705We have been in the US for only a few days and are already missing Merida. While we do enjoy seeing family and friends, we find the incessant focus on media and marketing tiring and wears us out. Having now been without a TV since October, we tried watching something in our hotel room and found nothing of redeeming value. 100 channels of shouting, violence, stupidity contrived “real-life” stories, shallow stories and buy-buy-buy (of course we know there are a few islands of sanity…PBS, for one.) The lure of the simplicity of Merida, the focus on life and living, the ability for so many to make so much from so little is just what we need. It is good to have this longing to be back in Merida: it confirms we made the right decision.
