Collisions

The Collision

Leaving oneself is a bold act that can not be undone. 2018 marks the beginning of my 8th decade on this planet. I have moved linearly through time—and along that journey I have collided with many folks. Some of these collusions have bruised me; others have strengthened me. All have had some impact on my capacity to understand myself and where I want(ed) to go. Now that I am moving closer to a point in time where there will be no return, I feel an urgency that is stronger than I have ever felt before. My focus on doing art is really just a logical conclusion to the journey so far. The real challenge now is to let go of all the negative impacts of these many and varied collisions and discover new, raw and uncharted places inside my psyche. Finding oneself is even bolder.

Jeff is an artist and retired architect living in Portland, Oregon. After practicing architecture in Germany, France and the United Kingdom from 1971 to 1977, he co-founded Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd Architects in 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota (now called MSR Design). He was an adjunct professor from 1978-1998 at the University of Minnesota College of Design. Jeff was elevated to Fellow of the American Institute of Architects in 1998. For over 50 years his architectural interest and personal passion has been the public library and its important role in our communities.
