Native plants like our building lot

This before and after photograph of our site on Calle 57 demonstrates how aggressive the native plants are in the Yucatan. Lea and I just spent 4 great days in Merida finalizing many details about the house with our architect, Victor Cruz. As you can see in the left image, our lot is about 200 feet deep. This will allow us to have our sleeping quarters and studio separated from the main house–which will house the kitchen library, porches and guest quarters. Between these two precincts will be the 8 x 90 foot lap pool (outlined with chalk in the left image.) We will be applying for the approval of the Historical Commission (INHA) within weeks. Construction should start by late September.
